The Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya Yojana, initiated by India’s Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, aims to provide electricity access to economically disadvantaged families in the country. Under the Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya Yojana, those who are financially unable to obtain an electricity connection and are living without electricity will receive a free electricity connection from the central government. This scheme is also known as the Prime Minister’s Easy Electricity for Every Household Scheme.
Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya Yojana (Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana)
Under this scheme, both rural and urban economically disadvantaged families in the country will be included. The selection of individuals for electricity connections under the Prime Minister’s Easy Electricity for Every Household Scheme will be based on the 2011 social, economic, and ethnic census. Those individuals whose names appear in this socio-economic census will receive free electricity connections. For those whose names are not included in this census, electricity connections can be obtained by paying a nominal fee of only 500 rupees, which can also be paid in ten easy instalments.
The objective of Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya Yojana
As you are aware, there are many households in the country that still do not have access to electricity, primarily due to their economic hardships, forcing them to live without this essential resource. This situation poses significant challenges for them. To address all these issues, the Central Government has introduced the Prime Minister’s Saubhagya Yojana. Through this scheme, free electricity connections are provided to the homes of economically disadvantaged families in both rural and urban areas of the country. This initiative aims to illuminate their homes and improve their quality of life, allowing them to comfortably carry out their daily activities.
