Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana – The initiative has been launched to provide security to the country’s farmers. Under this scheme, the central government provides crop insurance cover to farmers in case of crop failure, meaning that if the crop fails, the insurance claim amount is provided to the farmers. The government has replaced the previous two schemes with the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme.
The two previous schemes were the National Agriculture Insurance Scheme and the Modified National Agriculture Insurance Scheme. Both of these schemes had significant shortcomings. The biggest drawback in both of these schemes was their lengthy claims process, which made it difficult for farmers to claim compensation in case of crop failure. This is why the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme was introduced in place of these two schemes. If you are a farmer and wish to avail the benefits of the crop insurance scheme, you will need to read this article in detail until the end.

Objective Of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana
The primary objective of launching the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to provide financial assistance to distressed farmers who have suffered crop losses due to natural disasters. This initiative aims to encourage farmers to adopt modern and innovative agricultural practices and ensure stability in their income, thereby promoting continuous agricultural productivity. Under this scheme, the government provides different financial amounts to farmers based on the extent of crop damage. Farmers from across the country can apply for and benefit from this scheme.
Information Has To Be Given 72 Hours In Advance
Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, it is the responsibility of farmers to inform the agriculture department within 72 hours of crop damage caused by natural disasters. Additionally, farmers need to submit a written complaint to the district administration’s agriculture department, providing a detailed account of their crop losses. As soon as the complaint is received, the district administration’s agriculture department initiates the necessary action. Information is promptly conveyed to the insurance company, which then begins the process of providing insurance coverage to the farmer upon receiving the information.
The Claim Amount Received Under PM Fasal Bima Yojana.
To avail the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, farmers are required to file a claim for crop losses. Farmers can file a claim if their crops are damaged due to natural disasters or if there is a significant reduction in crop yield.
Under the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme, different claim amounts have been fixed for various crops. For instance, the maximum claim amount per acre for cotton crops is 36,282 rupees, for rice crops it is 37,484 rupees, for pearl millet crops it is 17,639 rupees, for maize crops it is 18,742 rupees, and for mung bean crops it is 16,497 rupees.
