Assam Khel Maharan 2024
The Assam Khel Maharan, aimed at engaging the youth of Assam in sporting activities, was introduced by Assam’s Chief Minister, Shri Himanta Biswa Sharma, in collaboration with the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs. The government has announced that the state will host the 2023 Assam Khel Maharan from November 1, 2023, to January 10, 2024. This year, the Sports and Youth Welfare Department is organizing the Assam Khel Maharan, and it is expected to see participation from over 50 lakh players.
The initiative also includes the organization of Khel Maharan events at various levels, including Gram Panchayat, ULB (Urban Local Body), Ward, Gram Panchayat Department Committee, and MAC (Municipal Area Committee) levels for the Bodoland Territorial Region. In the Assam Khel Maharan, five different sports, namely kabaddi, athletics, football, volleyball, and kho kho, will be featured.
